Flaw 40: Large development on South Slough of Coos Bay
Indian Point Inc. has filed a claim to allow 236 acres, currently zoned forest and mixed farm/forest use, on the east bank of the South Slough of Coos Bay for recreation facilities, such as a golf course, water sports recreation, vacations homes and commercial establishments as well as single family dwellings, mobile homes, duplexes and multi-family dwellings.
South Slough is one of 26 research national reserves because of its pristine habitat. Such a large development would effect wildlife, ruin views and affect research, according to Craig Young, the director of the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology, as stated in the Coos Bay World.
